Compassionate Routine and Elective Surgical Procedures

Two white puppies

We perform routine and elective surgical procedures at Ballantrae Plaza Veterinary Clinic, including spaying/neutering, mass removal, cystotomy, and dental surgery. We perform a full physical exam and recommend pre-anesthetic laboratory testing prior to any surgery. While your pet is under anesthesia, a registered veterinary technician will remain at your pet’s side, closely monitoring his or her vitals. Our compassionate staff will do their best to keep your pet calm and pain-free before, during, and after surgery.

Our surgical procedures include:

Spaying and neutering

Spaying (removing the ovaries and uterus in females) and neutering (removing the testicles in males) are safe, routine procedures that can eliminate the risk of certain diseases and cancers while also controlling the pet population.

Soft-tissue surgery

Soft-tissue surgeries are elective procedures that do not involve bone. Common soft-tissue surgeries include the removal of masses and cysts. It is extremely important to schedule an exam if you detect any lumps on your dog or cat.

Orthopedic surgery

We can arrange for a travelling orthopedic surgeon to perform certain procedures, such as extra-capsular cruciate ligament repairs and luxating patella surgery for small canines. For more complex orthopedic procedures, we will refer you to a trusted, board-certified veterinary surgical specialist in the area.

If surgery is recommended for your pet, we will take the time to address any questions or concerns you might have and explain the procedure in as much detail as you would like. Patient safety is always our number one priority.

Please contact us if you have any questions about our surgical options.
